HeartGard
(TM)
Every dog is at risk for getting heartworm disease, a
potentially deadly condition. Fortunately, prevention is easy with Heartgard
Chewables or Heartgard Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel), because dogs prefer the taste
of these Real-Beef Chewables.
Given once a month for life, Heartgard or Heartgard Plus
helps ensure your pet has guaranteed protection from deadly heartworm disease.
Heartgard Plus also treats and controls hookworms and roundworms. Heartgard is
well tolerated. All dogs should be tested for heartworm infection before
starting a preventive program. |
|
Interceptor
(TM)
Flavor Tabs for dogs are a
palatable once-a-month tablet that prevents heartworm disease, controls adult
hookworm, and removes and controls adult roundworm and whipworm infections.
Interceptor Flavor Tabs for cats are the only oral monthly preventative that
protects against heartworms and remove adult roundworms and adult hookworms.
|
|
Sentinel
(TM)
Flavor Tabs are a monthly oral preventive that guards against heartworms
(Dirofilaria immitis) and fleas as well as adult roundworms (Toxocara canis,
Toxascaris leonina), adult hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum) and whipworms
(Trichuris vulpis). As with other heartworm preventives, dogs must be tested for
heartworm prior to using SENTINEL Flavor Tabs. In a small percentage of treated
dogs, digestive, neurological and skin side effects may occur. |
|
Revolution
(TM)
Revolution is the safe, simple way to protect your dog or cat from a range of
harmful parasites. This monthly topical application prevents heartworms while
controlling fleas and ear mites. Revolution is safe for use on puppies and kittens
over six weeks of age and is waterproof after two hours, so it remains effective
even after shampooing, swimming, rain or exposure to sunlight. |
|

Wellness Exams
When it comes to your pet's health care, prevention is the key. Our
veterinarians recommend that your pet receives a physical exam at least once a
year, though more frequent exams are encouraged. Regular physical exams are just
as important for your pet as they are for you. Exams give a complete picture of
your pet's health and are useful in detecting diseases and other health problems
in the early stages - before they become more difficult, and more expensive, to
treat. Our veterinarians perform a complete examination of your pet. We listen
to your pet's heart and lungs, evaluate his or her vision, check for unusual
lumps, look at your pet's teeth and oral cavity and check your pet's joints for
swelling or stiffness. We may also perform routine blood and urine tests as well
as tests for internal or external parasites. During the exam, we also discuss
with you home health care options for your pet, and we are more than happy to
answer any questions you may have.

Digital Radiology
EastNook Animal Hospital is proud to offer our patients digital radiology
(x-rays). Our state-of-the-art digital x-ray unit produces sharp,
high-quality diagnostic images of your pet, enabling our veterinarians and
staff to make a fast, accurate diagnosis. X-rays are useful in evaluating a
number of areas of your pet's body, including the musculo-skeletal system,
gastrointestinal tract, the heart and lungs and the reproductive system.
Digital x-rays have many advantages for your pet, our hospital and the
environment. Because the image quality of digital x-rays is higher, your
pet spends less time on the x-ray table. This means less stress for your pet.
Digital x-rays can be saved to a disc or emailed to specialists for consultations
or second opinions. Unlike traditional plate x-rays, no film is developed for
digital x-rays, and so no toxic chemicals are needed to produce x-rays. Digital
x-rays can be sent via the internet to board-certified veterinary radiologists when
consultations are needed.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is an advanced diagnostic procedure that uses soundwaves to produce a real-time
moving image of your pet's internal organs. Ultrasound aids in the diagnosis of a variety
of medical conditions, assesses damage caused by illness and guides instruments into the body
to remove tissue samples for testing..
|
|
Endoscopy
Endoscopy is an extremely useful procedure which aids in the diagnosis and treatment of problems
occurring in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. With an endoscope, we can perform a more complete
examination of the GI tract, including the esophagus, stomach, and some areas of the intestine.
With the use of an endoscope, the veterinarian can visualize areas that would normally not be
accessible without invasive surgery. The scope is equipped with a lighted camera and pictures
are transferred to a monitor. Using the scope, the veterinarian can diagnose gastrointestinal
disorders, cancerous growths, polyps and much more.
